The Dalí Museum, located on the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, FL, is a world-renowned museum showcasing the works of Salvador Dalí. The Lead Facilities Technician reports to the Director of Facilities and is responsible for all facets of the museum mechanical operations and serves as backup to the Director of Facilities. This includes but is not limited to operation and maintenance of the mechanical plant, plumbing, and mechanical systems throughout the facility, construction and installation of exhibit furniture and experiences.
The salary range for this position is $63-65,000 per year.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support needs for the building operating systems of the Museum, including off site storage building.
- Performs routine maintenance on the chiller plant and HVAC equipment
- Perform minor repairs related to electrical, plumbing fixtures, lighting, ballasts.
- Assist in managing the BMS, adjusting, and maintain proper climate control set points
- May support the Director of Facilities with the maintenance schedule of building, grounds, and facility repairs and replacements.
- Report any irregular activity in facility to the Director of Facilities.
- Assist contractors performing maintenance work in the facility
- Share in 24-hour response for Maintenance/HVAC emergencies.
- The Facilities Team is the primary resource for setup and tear down for special event and daily programs.
- Active member of the museums hurricane response team including response to storm prep and recovery after major storm events. May include overnights to manage systems during storms.
Job Requirements
- Five day/40 hour + per week schedule will include 1 weekend day and some holidays
- Must be available on-call
- Must be able to work some nights as needed for project work.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools up to 50 pounds
- Proficiency in climbing ladders and working at heights on lift equipment, as well as maintaining balance on uneven surfaces
- Capability to work long hours, often in various environments, including outdoor settings and confined spaces
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in commercial HVAC maintenance and repair is required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems maintenance and repair. Specifically, Trane, Lochinvar, Dan-Foss, Marley, Cummins, Honeywell Tridium/Niagara
- Knowledge of electrical installations of 24 volt to 460-volt single phase and three phases.
- Knowledge of water towers, boilers, refrigerant recovery systems, pneumatic and electrical controls.
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency regulations and rules.
- Knowledge of basic hand, power and technical tools utilized in electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Advanced tools systems a plus – welding, etc.
- Skill in safely utilizing a variety of hand and power tools.
- Skill in utilizing health and safety precautions related to installation and repair of HVAC systems.
- Skill in analyzing technical data to determine appropriate repairs.
- Must be proficient in computer software and maintenance systems.
- Good communication and proactive customer service skills.
- Technical, Trade or Vocational School considered an important attribute.
- IFMA or other trade organization certifications a plus.
